Being the first born of a family has it's pros and cons; just like everything else in life does. There are always positives and negatives but you just have to focus on the right reasons and keep your chin up.
I've always loved being the oldest in my family. And now I'm heading to college in a couple days and it's a whole new experience. I'm the first one to leave the house and go to college. First generation headed to a 4 yr university. I know it's going to be such a fun experience and I'm going to learn so much but I'm also going to miss a lot from home.
My family first and foremost.
My dad whistling in the kitchen as he cooks. Or coming up with ridiculous jokes to make my boyfriend laugh. Or him tickling my feet because he knows it drives me crazy.
My momma. Buying me clothes. Doing my laundry. Listening to her praying with my little siblings - how she's raised them just the same as me. Feeding me truth and wisdom. Singing country songs together in the car.
My best friend, my sister Erin. We've shared a room since she was born. We make up our own words and jokes and laugh about it for years. Or talking about boys in the dark before we go to bed. How we can hate the same thing or love completely different things.
My little siblings too. How they look up to me. How my youngest brother pronounces my name wrong. My littlest sister wanting to be just like me.
Driving down the backroads with the windows down and the music blaring. (I won't get to bring my car on campus as a freshman) Going for late night junk food runs with my sister. Missing my job and my coworkers for how hard they work.
Things are going to change but it's going to be a good experience. One I'm getting very excited for and very nervous for. Hoping these last few days go a lot slower than the rest of my summer. Soaking in every last detail.
xoxo,
~Michlyn

Hi it's Me Again
I saw the picture above on a design website and thought it perfectly described my blogging life. I miss how frequently I used to blog...I miss reading all the comments I got from all my wonderful followers. You could probably go back a few posts and read how busy my life is right now. I'm trying to cherish every moment until it passes, but it's hard and chaotic.
I'm so happy Fall has arrived! It's my favorite season and I just love it. I'm not going to get all cheesy and saw how it's time for cuddling, bonfires, hot chocolate, and scarves...because maybe it is but I don't want to tell you something that everyone else says. It's gets pretty mainstream.
The weather, the scenery, the outfits, and crispness of the air...That's what I love about Fall. How I can still enjoy time outside with friends in just a sweatshirt, or a bonfire with my family, or do a fun photoshoot without freezing. I can't wait to catch up with all of you, and hopefully bring you some pictures next time...I'll be back soon. :)
xoxo,

When Life is Thrown in your Face
I gotta a very thoughtful comment, from one of my beautiful followers about my lack of posting. :) I love hearing comments like that because then I know I'm missed and that my blog is loved... It just makes me smile!
I haven't posted in a while, and have been very busy.
LIFE has been in my way lately... Sometimes I just want to crawl under my covers and sleep the whole day.
Where I can dream about anything perfect and lovely.
Where I can forget that reality is waiting for me when I wake up.
Where I can figure out real life problems in my head.
Where I can dismiss all the drama at school lately.
Just some of those thoughts have kept me away from my blog. I have so much on my mind and with so little time, I can't think of anything to write.
---I've been dying to actually go somewhere other than my backyard and do a photo shoot. I've done a few with my best friend but none of them have turned out...sigh. I need to take a photography class.
---I've been spending a lot of my time on Pinterest lately. Trying new things to my hair and trying crazy facial creams.
---I'm very shopping deprived. I neeeeed to go get some new jeans, and some boots. My only problem is...$$$. I've been completely broke. Oh well. I must be thankful for what I have.

Playing in the sandbox with my brother on a sunny afternoon
Red skinnies and moccasins!
Beautiful sunrise on the way to school
I also did a photo shoot with Beka last weekend! We want to take some more, because some of these are really blurry. But we loved it, had lots of fun, and my dad let us use his truck - Those pictures were some of our favorites!
Yes, Fall is definitely a great time of year!

Powder Puff
So as I mentioned earlier... I would post about Powder Puff.
A quick definition for Powder Puff: Girls Football!
At my school we do an annual Powder Puff game every year! It's for 9th-12th graders.
Freshman & Seniors vs. Sophmores & Juniors
I'm a Freshman this year, and it was so much playing with the Seniors. It was especially exciting because the Seniors this year have won every. single. year. What was our team name? That's right! UNDEFEATED!
Did we win? YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
So the Seniors are the first ever undefeated team! Had so much fun, and was so happy for them! It's their last year of high school, so how exciting is that?

Weekend Fun
This weekend was a blast! Had so much fun with my friends. :)
On Friday night, my sister Erin and I got to go to an event for our youth group! We got to play Infiltration and have a bonfire. We played it at a tree farm so it was a lot of fun running around and trying to sneak in items that we found from around the farm!
Can't wait for another fun event! It was a blast hanging out with everybody and I'm sure they all had a blast too. I told you our youth pastor is awesome!
On Saturday Erin and I headed to a halloween party! It was at her friend's house but there was 8th through 11th graders there! Had so much fun! We listened to music, we hung out, laughed, threw stuff at each other, ate a lot of candy, played truth or dare, and took a very crowded ride in the back of a truck. :)
Over 10 of us teenagers (8th and 9th graders) climbed into the back of her dad's pick up truck and took a ride on a few trails behind their house. Wasn't the most comfortable thing ever, but it was still pretty fun.
Sunday was church and youth group! Since I started going to youth group on Sunday nights instead of Wednesday nights, the last one was probably my favorite one so far! Our youth pastor's message was great and then we all hung out in the gym. Some of us quickly made 2 teams and then we played kickball!
Can't wait until this weekend! Going to be hanging out on Thursday with a few friends after our Powder Puff game, and then a few things going on from Friday - Saturday! Then Sunday is youth group again..yay!
Have a good night everyone!

Fall Fling 2011 (Part 2)
Now I'm here to tell you all about my favorite parts of Fall Fling! (plus some more pictures)
Here are some of my favorite things about this weekend.
1. The cabin I stayed in. Plus the girls I shared it with were really fun and we made a lot of memories!
2. All the time we got to hang outside, take walks, and just be in God's beautfiul creation. I will say though.. it was freezing! (Especially when you decide to throw on flip-flops at night)
3. Our amazing youth pastor who had a blast, no matter how much we drove him crazy! :)
4. The flag football tournaments that we played in!! I was super fun and we all played really well together.
5. When I played 500 (football game) with the guys after dinner one day. Sure one of my fingers swelled up, I ended up on the ground more than once, and I didn't throw the ball correctly every time but it was FUN!
6. Our speaker for the weekend! His name was Daniel Wallace, but we all called him Ambush... Or as he told us - Amboooosh :)
7. In chapel on Saturday night we got glow sticks, and had a blast with sticking them in our hair and whatever else. Then afterwards a part of our group just hung out and played with them in the dark. It was a really fun night!
8. The car rides... Yes even though they were loud and crazy and we were a bit squished it was entertaining!
9. The Bible verses that we got to learn - I think Ambush said them about 3 times or more every single time in chapel. But they stuck with us and we learned a lot.
10. I'd have to say my very favorite part would have to be the memories I made - because those are the little things that I will never forget.
No matter what happens those memories will always be there. Fall Fling will always be my favorite and I always wish the weekend was longer. It's such a blast!
The verses we learned were:
~ 1 Peter 1:6-7
~James 1:2-4
~Romans 1:1-5
Thank you Jesus for this great opportunity to learn more about you and to grow more spiritually!
