What I'm Going to Miss.

Being the first born of a family has it's pros and cons; just like everything else in life does. There are always positives and negatives but you just have to focus on the right reasons and keep your chin up.

I've always loved being the oldest in my family. And now I'm heading to college in a couple days and it's a whole new experience. I'm the first one to leave the house and go to college. First generation headed to a 4 yr university. I know it's going to be such a fun experience and I'm going to learn so much but I'm also going to miss a lot from home.

My family first and foremost.

My dad whistling in the kitchen as he cooks. Or coming up with ridiculous jokes to make my boyfriend laugh. Or him tickling my feet because he knows it drives me crazy.

My momma. Buying me clothes. Doing my laundry. Listening to her praying with my little siblings - how she's raised them just the same as me. Feeding me truth and wisdom. Singing country songs together in the car.

My best friend, my sister Erin. We've shared a room since she was born. We make up our own words and jokes and laugh about it for years. Or talking about boys in the dark before we go to bed. How we can hate the same thing or love completely different things.

My little siblings too. How they look up to me. How my youngest brother pronounces my name wrong. My littlest sister wanting to be just like me.

Driving down the backroads with the windows down and the music blaring. (I won't get to bring my car on campus as a freshman) Going for late night junk food runs with my sister. Missing my job and my coworkers for how hard they work.

Things are going to change but it's going to be a good experience. One I'm getting very excited for and very nervous for. Hoping these last few days go a lot slower than the rest of my summer. Soaking in every last detail.

One Last Night

On Saturday night I got together with some of my favorite people in the whole wide world. People who make me laugh, who I have inside jokes with, who accept me for me, and who make my "hilarious tab" in life way more full. It was our last night of summer...sitting together cracking jokes, sharing memories, and hanging out. We played night games and I'm sorry but they are the best with these people. "Flashlight Tag" and "Capture the Glowstick". Chowing down on chips and chugging Mt. Dew. (Which I dislike mt. dew and they all think that's weird, but oh well) We're a pretty crazy group but The Posse enjoyed one last night together before we all went to new schools or back to our charter school. One last night that wrapped up the whole summer. One last night of freedom.

At the Moment

I've been a little busy with being a crew leader at VBS, working, scrolling pinterest, volleyball, and sucking every great moment until summer is over. :(

So I thought I would update until I have my next photoshoot or event.

1. Wearing - sweats & a t-shirt

2. Eating - crackers

3. Listening to - True Love by Pink

4. Drinking - Water

5. Needing - to get one more good tan before school starts

6. Feeling - Sore & tired but I'm happy :)

7. Thinking of - my friends that I miss so much & can't wait to see again!

8. Weather - Cool & partly sunny

9. Doing - Relaxing all day until I have to babysit late tonight

10. Wanting - to get somethings checked off my to-do list

11. Enjoying - How busy I've been! Want to pack in as many things as possible for the rest of the summer!

Have you been busy this summer? Anyone else dreading school?

God Bless the U.S.A. {2013}

Our family doesn't have annual 4th of July celebrations.

In the past we've gone to a Christian camp with friends and our families spent time together celebrating with a cookout, s'mores, games, and late fireworks. Everything to the max. RED WHITE & BLUE.

Sometimes we'd go visit with family and buy some fireworks. Or go to my grandparents' cabin on a lake and swim and grill food.

Last year, Erin and I were blessed to be able to go on a youth trip and enjoy a few fireworks in New Orleans, LA.

But this year...we kept it low key. And that's what we need most times. I had a few things in mind and waited for the sun to finally set in our nook of the neighborhood.

And soon it was getting a little more golden...deeper...darker. Then the sun said it's final goodnight and I started getting things set up.

We attempted to start a bonfire (didn't last very long), and make a couple s'mores.

Also bought a handful of sparklers and those went pretty well. Now I sit in our cozy & cool house, smelling of bug spray, and thanking God that I get to live in this country. For our fathers who built this country and that God was our foundation in the beginning.

"Because there is no doubt, I love this land...
...God bless the U.S.A."

The Little Things...

Somtimes there are those moments.

When you just sit in the silence or the laughter and think....

My life is great. I don't want anything to change.

Being grateful & happy & feeling beautiful.

It's those little things in life.

Where you need to stop and thank God for.

Maybe it's a shopping date with your mom and you find the perfect pair of jeans.

It could be a night hanging out with friends and you make the best memories.

You could be in school and a teacher doesn't assign homework for the weekend.

Or maybe you're in church and you see that white rose on stage and you realize that's another person for your family in heaven.

Anything.

After Practice

After a long week of school... I have a 4 day weekend.

Got to be in bed for an extra 3 hours yesterday morning.

In my comfy clothes all day.

Then, it was off to practice. 4:30 - 7:00 pm.

It was fun! We worked hard, and did our thing.

We are volleyball players after all.

Loud, fun, and excited players.

Took the nets down, changed, and left a little late.

Going down the high way with my dad & sister in his little car.

Saw the glorious & amazing artwork God had created in the sky.

It was like a glimpse of heaven.

The sky was open & bright. With the sun setting just below.

Stopped at Chipotle, to grab a burrito. Mmmm so good!

Then straight down the road we went, yet again.

Listening to some modern and oldies music.

My sister & I have quite a different taste of music then my dad yah know.

Heading banging, dancing, and laughing all the way!

Relaxing with my feet on the dash.

Until we reached the small town where we live.

Pulled into the driveway and jumped out of the car.

With a backpack on my shoulder, TOMS on my feet, and memories in my mind.

That was my night...after practice.

A Monday already Gone...

Yesterday was Monday. It's gone. It's history.
The day was pretty fun, and exciting. It went by really fast.
Today is Tuesday, and tomorrow is Wednesday.

My dad got off work early to pick the four of us up from school yesterday.
I love it when he picks us up. In his little car, riding down the road.
There's something that feels different, and fun. Almost like....
Freedom.

We're all off to school this morning, as my dad will be going with
me to a field trip... to a college fair. Should be interesting.
My mom is going to see one of my brothers get an award!

It's going to be a quick week! With that... I am very grateful!

Wishing everyone an awesome Tuesday!

See you at the Pole

Credit to MS Word Clipart (not my school)
See you at the pole is a youth event that goes on all over the world. It's where kids from schools all over go to their flagpoles on the last Wednesday of September. They go there to pray for their communities, their teachers, staff, their freinds, and any other thing they want. Since I actually go to a school now, I went to experience this for the first time. It was amazing. People I didn't know, elementary kids, and even new friends I have met were there. We had a 5 minute time for silence and anyone during that time could pray openly. What's really amazing about this event is that you can say anything you want in prayer, and you know you won't be judged. Then we broke into groups by elementary, middle school, and high school. We even had a teacher who came by and prayed for a minute "before she became a teacher"! Incredible experience. You go to school half and hour (about 20-30 minutes) before school starts, and pray for that time. You can choose to open in song or do it any other way.

So this event took place last Wednesday, and they do it once a year, so it really is great to have this opportunity. Later, last Wednesday there was a youth rally at our church, where we hosted a time of worship and prayer with 8 other youth groups in our area! The whole sanctuary or "worship center" was filled with teens from 6th-12th grade. I met a few new girls, and got to pray with them and it was really an unforgetable night.

I just thank the Lord that we live here, in a free country where we can worship and think anything we want without the consequences that other countries have. I pray for those countries, and the leaders there, that they might learn to have and give the freedom we have someday.

God Bless America!
